Lucky Linkin Returns 200 Millionth Container at Crestmead Depot

Just days before his seventh birthday, young recycler Linkin has helped make history for Logan.

At exactly 11:03am on Monday 29 September 2025, he proudly returned the 200 millionth container at TOMRA’s Crestmead depot – cheered on by his dad, Julian.

To celebrate the occasion, Linkin received a special $200 reward – one dollar for every million containers recycled at the depot.

A family ritual

For Linkin and his dad, collecting bottles and cans isn’t just about refunds – it’s a family ritual.

They’ve been collecting containers for years, turning recycling into both a fun activity and a way to save for the future, with all refunds going into Linkin and his siblings’ bank accounts.

“Linkin loves to come down to the depot with his brother and sister and put the containers into the machines himself,” Julian said.

“The best part about collecting containers is spending time with the kids, seeing their faces and their smiles, they love being independent and doing it themselves!”

For Linkin, the best part is simple: helping the environment, saving the turtles, and getting some pocket money.

A big win for families and the environment

The Crestmead depot is the first in Logan to hit the massive 200 million milestone. That means less rubbish in landfill AND a whopping $20 million back into the pockets of local families, schools, clubs, and charities.

Depot Supervisor Steve Adams says the community isn’t slowing down any time soon:

“We see thousands of containers come through every day – it’s clear recycling has become second nature for the community,” Mr Adams said.

“We love seeing our regulars come in each week, sharing a smile and knowing they’re getting the most out of the scheme. And we’re not stopping here, 500 million is the next goal!”
