Fundraise with an organisation member number
The first step to start fundraising through Containers for Change is to sign up for an organisation member number — this is your free Containers for Change WA account, that makes receiving donations easy.
It only takes a few minutes to sign up — just enter your group's contact details, link a bank or Paypal account, and you'll be given a unique number similar to C12345678 (we call this your member number), which is what your supporters will use to donate their container refunds directly to you. What are you waiting for? Sign up at the button below.
CHOOSE A TEAM LEADER TO MANAGE YOUR ORGANISATION’S ACCOUNT
Every team needs a leader, and the same rule applies to your organisation member number account. When you sign up for an organisation member number, you'll need someone in the group who already has an individual member number account with Containers for Change to join. This is so we have somebody in your group we can contact, if needed.
This individual account will become your group's Team Leader — but don’t worry, you can change your Team Leader at any time. When you’re set up, your Team Leader can add team mates to your organisation account, making it easy for everyone to track the group's fundraising goals.
Choose a fundraising approach
Once you have created your organisation member number, you’re ready to start fundraising. The next step is to decide on the fundraising approach that best suits your organisation. To achieve the best results, try and combine a couple of the approaches below.
Share your member number with your community
Share your organisation’s member number on your website, social media accounts, email marketing and beyond. When your supporters return their 10¢ containers, they can donate their refunds directly to you. All they need to do is keep your member number handy when they return.
The refund point will process the refunds to your bank account by using your organisation member number. You can keep track of donations to your organisation in the member number portal at any time.
Collect at events
If you're hosting a community event, it’s also a great opportunity to collect 10¢ containers. Before the event, chat with your local refund point to see what types of collection infrastructure you might need, or to organise a collection service for after the event.
Tip: If you know of any events where there will be lots of 10¢ containers, reach out to the event coordinator or venue owner and ask if they would consider donating a portion (or all!) of the container refunds to your organisation. Many venues across Perth are keen to donate their containers to local organisations!
Become a donation point
If you have the space, you could become a container donation point. This lets your supporters drop their 10¢ containers off at your school, office, or sports club, so you can then return them and keep all the refunds for your organisation.
If you need help with infrastructure suggestions, please reach out to us at [email protected] and we can point you in the right direction.
Which groups can receive donations?
Charities and Community Groups
Not-for-profit organisations, social groups, sport or hobby groups.
SHARE YOUR CAUSE IN OUR DIRECTORY FOR DONATIONS
Once your organisation has signed up for a member number, you’ll be able to publish your organisation's details in our Good Causes Directory. This helps the community easily find your organisation and save your member number, which they can then use to donate their refunds to you.
Log in to the member number portal and use the 'our cause' form to describe your organisation's purpose. Once you submit the form, your organisation will appear in our online Directory and on our app.
Access fundraising resources
We know you're busy. If you're after tools to help you promote your organisation and share your member number, check out our Fundraising Resources page. Here you’ll find posters, flyers, and social media tiles, which are totally free for you to use.
